As anticipate well in advance, Tripura government today declared to promote all the students of standard I to IX and XI, who had appeared in the annual examinations before lockdown curfew came into enforce.
Side by side, checking of answer scripts of Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examination conducted earlier would be commencing from April 24 next. State's joint entrance examination which was scheduled for April 2 & 3 has been postponed due to lockdown curfew because of Covid-19 pandemic.
On the other hand, the fate of 12 degree colleges and 7 technical colleges still hangs in balance as the government has decided to take up the issue with Tripura University and MBB University.
While speaking to the media at the Civil Secretariat here today, Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said the decision to give promotion to the students from standard I-IX and XI to the next classes because of ongoing class for the pupils beginning from tomorrow.
Nath clarified that examinations for three subjects- Sociology, Statistics and Music for the class IX could not be taken up because of lockdown curfew. "The students of IX will get marks in three subjects on the basis of half yearly examination's mark", he said.
The Minister said almost all the states have postponed joint entrance examinations because of Covid-19 pandemic and the state (Tripura) has also decided to do the same thing. However, evolution of Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examinations' answer scripts would be checked properly.
"Most of answer script of board's examinations have already arrived to the schools. Evolution would be commencing in 13 centres from April 24 by adhering the guidelines during lockdown curfew. We hope the process will be smooth", he said.
